Wave Motion: Russian Wave Machine
Photo Shows the Demonstration Apparatus Used by the University of Texas at Austin.
Instructions / Notes:
- A nice wave model to show both transvers and longitudinal wave motion .
- The apparatus was produced in the USSR/CCCP in 1958 - from which it gets its name on this web site.
- To show a moving transverse wave, rotate the left handle at the rear, either in either a clockwise or counter clockwise motion.

- To show a standing wave, center the left hand handle, then move move the handle straight up and down in a vertical motion.
- To show a longitudinal wave, center the right hand knob, then move the left hand handle left to right in a horizontal motion.
