Electromagnetic Spectrum: Project the Spectrum with a Prism
Photo Shows the Apparatus Used at the University of Texas at Austin.
Instructions / Notes:
- Turn on the lamp to project a white light spectra onto the wall in two places.
- The slide projector contains a slide which has narrow upright slit opening at the center.
Demo Staff:
- It's difficult to see it in the second photo - but there is a good sized C-clamp on the table to prevent the projector from sliding off the rear.
- Ideally, the projector needs to be placed a good distance from the wall adjacent to the chalkboard - which usually means blocking one of the end seats in the first row.
- This placement of the slide projector allows the audience to view two spectra/rainbows simultaneously - (one on the near wall by the chalkboard and a second on the side wall on the opposite side of the classroom).
