Photo Shows the Demonstration Apparatus Used by the University of Texas at Austin
Set Up Instructions / Notes:
- This demostration includes a geen laser, an optics rail and a slide wih a .2 mm circular pin hole aperture mounted to an X/Y stage.
- The pinhole may need to be horizontally and vertically adjusted using the knobs on the mount.
- If the image is spread out on the horizontal axis, use the knob that lays along the track.
- If the image is spread out on the vertical axis, use the knob that is set vertical next to the light.
- Continue this process until the rings appear clearly. It should not be necessary to adjust the distances of the aperture and the laser.
- Images included depict the laser being aligned only in the horizontal axis, only in the vertical axis, and fully aligned.
- Note: The auditorium must be completely dark.
- Even the A/V projection system will need to be blanked by pressing the "mute icon" on the control panel.
- The Airy disk and rings can be best seen by aiming the laser cart towards the prep room doors.
- The rings will be easier to see the further it is projected.
