Concepts Conveyed:

• Vases filled with water at the same height will result in the same pressure reading.
• Vases filled with the same volume will not result in the same pressure reading.

Instructions / Notes:

• Screw one of the four vases onto the apparatus.
• Verify that the rubber release tube is clamped, and then add water.
• You will see that the pointer rises along the pressure chart (units: millipascal).
• Mark the height of the water with the metal pointer.
• Release the water into the empty beaker by pointing the rubber tube downward into the beaker and releasing the clamp.
• Repeat the steps with the other vase shapes.

Demo Staff:

• Fill one beaker with colored water, and leave the other beaker empty for water collection.
